Germany Bound!!

Let me start this post by telling you a little story. Fore score and 16 years ago exactly to the day, a very very young newly married couple left San Francisco International Airport for Frankfurt Airport. They were so excited to begin their journey in Germany and experience all the things they read about in the sponsor package and watched in the video on the VCR!! Unfortunately their time there was cut short and they were moved to Italy a few months after arrival. Ever since that time they dreamed of returning to Germany. Today that dream comes true!!

Yep that story is about me and Rob. Thanks to God and my persistent, responsible, hard working husband I finally get to go back to Germany! As a young wife I left my home in California to begin my life as an Air Force wife at Ramstein. I had my son there and then we left. No chance to see the Christmas markets, no snow, no Gluewein, none of the things I researched and learned about. We have had many assignments since then and experienced many things, good and bad, fun and sad, but never had the chance to go back to Germany.

Today all that changes!!!!! I am going back! I am so freaking excited and just about danced down the hall of the airport once we checked in. I am officially Germany Bound with just a tiny bit of luggage!!!!!!

How does this work is what many of you want to know. So here is the break down.
We left Louisiana on Wednesday. Flew to Baltimore where we had an entire day to relax and do whatever we wanted to. We chose to check into a hotel and take a train to D.C. and see many thing we have all learned about in history class. Then slept in this morning and had breakfast in the hotel of course. Did a late check out Homewood Suites is great BTW highly recommend them! Headed to the airport where we had a 4 hour window to check in. Once we check in we turn in our luggage but do not go through security. We can do whatever we like until it is time to board. We are hanging out in the USO lounge for now. Which has free food drinks, non alcoholic of course, and snacks, as well as wifi, video games, books, magazines, a sleep room, and tons of other stuff of comfort. All free of charge to military and dependants.

Then we will head on up to security and make our way to our gate and get on the plane. Watch some TV, a movie or two, eat a crap ton of food no one really wants, try to nap, then wah lah we are home!

Am I excited uh hex yeah I am!! Well hope you enjoyed my little story and sorry I have been MIA for the past few weeks I will be more frequent once I am home!

Auf wiedersehen
